What I have under the Hood

Postby bloodad on Sat Nov 29, 2008 7:44 pm

Hello All,
I drive a 2001 Dakots Quad-Cab with a 4.7 Liter engine getting about 13 mpg over the road. A few months ago, a good friend of mine told me he was using water to help run his truck. He said he was saving a lot of money on gas while driving back and forth from N Georgia to S Florida which he does 5 or 6 times a year.

He had the HHO Generator design with the little plastic tower and SS Wire spiraled around and that was working quite well. But he found that the wires were degrading faster than he liked. So he tried using Three 1/4 in. SS bolts instead of the Wire Tower with good results.

So, for my HHO Generator, we decided to use the Bolts instead of the Wire Tower. We found SS 5/16 Eye Bolts at a hardware store and plenty of washers and nuts. We had all the fittings on hand to complete the assembly and went to work. What I've got:

One Quart widemouth Mason Jar w/plastic Lid
In the Lid: Two 5/16 in. eye bolts w/washers and nuts and plastic to keep the bolts apart
Two Plastic hose fittings for vacuum hoses to engine air intake and throttle body vacuum
One Checkvalve to relieve any pressure buildup
One bubbler Valve to feed a small amount of fresh air
I ran Red 12ga Wire to one of the bolts from the cigarette lighter (removed) with a fused link. Then found a good ground on the Chassis and connected a Black 12ga. Wire to the other Bolt.

We used an Amp Meter to determine the amount of Baking Soda to add to the Distilled Water and tested for leaks across the system. I dropped the hood and took off back to Charlotte. I filled up just before getting on the Highway and again after about 100 miles. My fuel mileage calculated to about 17.8 miles per gallon.

Since then I have been fooling around trying to make the truck more hospitable to the HHO input. I've added the Extenders for the Oxygen Sensors and a MAP Sensor Enhancer. Probably the best thing I added was a new set of spark-plugs. I've not checked mileage performance since these things added. I'll update when I do.

Where do you find the plastic lid for the mason jar?? I have a miracle whip jar with plastic lid, but the jars are now plastic. I'm just getting started, and getting the materials together. I was so glad to find this forum to get input from others. Thanks so much..

I found mine at a local ACE Hardware Store. They were about $5.00 for 4 in a package. Don't pay those high prices on ebay for them. There was some online-store (not on ebay) that wanted like $9.00 for 4 plus $3.00 shipping. Be patient and shop around. You'll find someone. If you can't, go to Acehardware.com. The Ace here in Charlotte where I got my lids is Blackhawk Hardware in The Park Road Shopping Center.

You need to put the car on a scope and a scanner to read data stream

A glass jar is out of the question, by a 150.$ welder and build a stainles steele box for your unit. I plow snow I don't wan't a glass jar under my hood. And I have a lot of nice cars coming to my shop, I will not put a mason jar under the hood of a 30000$ car. Think about it

I am using 4" PVC pipe 12" long with a valve to drain it on the bottom and pos. and neg. connections and the hho outlet on top. I am also building the bubbler from the same material but it is 8" high. I will post a picture later

glass jars are good for testing but i would not put it in my car, i have built several generators, all of which work well, with different efficiency but good results, those glass jars are dangerous so use ss or PVC it cheap and easy to get, and has good results

Hey All,

I saw a guy making one of these and it was his third one, making it for his boss. He bought a "whole house" water filter kit like you can get from Lowes (about $35.00) or any hardware store. It is clear and has a thick screw-on cap with an "inlet" and an "outlet" on the cap. He drilled two holes in the cap for the rods to pass through and made his plates out of SS recep. covers. As I said, this was his third one, he said he has one on his truck, his Fathers truck and now his boss wants to try one on his truck and may get him to build more for his fleet of work trucks. He has had his for about a year now and has tried different mixtures in it but I'll have to ask him what it is he is using now as he said that this got the most mileage of any of them. He drives alot(300+ miles a week) for work and he has doubled his mileage on his truck...! But I am now building my own and am using the whole house filter system like he did....will let you know more later.....hope this helps as I will not put anything glass under my hood either...!! Also, I have put a "collection chamber" on the side of mine to catch any water that might flow over into the line while driving on bumpy or un-even roads or ground. All it is is a PVC 3/4" "T" with a petcock on the bottom and an inlet barb on the side and another on the top so that any water(mixture) that might pass into the line will collect in the bottom of the "T" without being pulled into the air intake.....hope this helps....

I envy you guys since you've already started using your generators. I bought a manual last year and everything was so easy to understand and follow; I ran a blank wall when I couldn't find nylon screws in my country. Yesterday, my friend in California bought me a complete kit. Am so excited for it to arrive so I can install in my 2003 Honda. If this is successful, I can build others and get myself a bigger SUV and fit it in. Gas prices in my country are uncontrollable specially since our government deregularized prices. Bad for my countrymen and the oil companies are getting richer. I will focus on my incoming generator and will keep you posted on the results.
