what happens if you sand both sides of the plates??

I really don't know but I sanded both sides of my first set of 16 plates (dumb mistake)and my unit is running fine.

We are all aware of the advantage of sanding the plates. It's an easy job. I'll see the advantage once I try my plates. Will keep you posted.

Sanding the plates is a waste of time. The miniscule increase in surface area is in no way worth the effort.
