Plate Material for HHO Generator

Postby gmhajh on Wed Dec 03, 2008 9:16 am

Before building a HHO generator I would like some feedback or what material has been tried in building the plates. It seems that copper would be good, but I don't know how much corrosion there would be. Stainless steel doesn't have that good of electrical properties, but wouldn't corrode as bad. Any suggestions?

Hi Gmhajh !

I used 304ss plates from Lowes as directed in Bob Volk"s ebook. I suspect they will work great. I haven't fired up my system (on a 97 s10 Blazer) yet as I'm STILL waiting for electrolizer delivery from ARTCHEMS. Almost all that Iv'e read use SS. 316SS of course, would be better than 304 but the plates from Lowes are good starters. This is my first build too, so I really don't have too much experiance either but common sense should help some, (I hope). I'm presently building a bench-top....exactly the same as in my Blazer...................Newguy/rmg

greetings,

In my experiences i also use stainless steel plates because it is the nearest substitute to platinum plates which is expensive and not so easy to acquire. But when it comes to preparation hustle I can say that i would go for the spiral design. As of now my final design is spiral type or more likely a spring type, I am using an acrylic plastic for my casing bonded with chloroform and i also drilled and fastened it with screws the casing is rectangular in shape H 7inches L 6.5 inches W 4 inches. Thickness of the acrylic plastic is .5 inch, there are two compartment inside it, big and small. the bigger compartment house my hho generator and the small space for my babbler.
I used a stainless spiral anode and cathode parallel to each other dipped in distilled water with baking soda (for the catalyst).
The magnetic vortex created by the spiral design add up to the production of hho as compared to the flat sheet, not to mention that spiral is much more easy to prepare.

I am using it in a carburetor type of engine now, but planing to use it with ECU type or computer fuel injected type. But i have one problem, i am in need of a schematic diagram and complete parts list of EFIE (electronic fuel injection enhancer). I want to make one as my project because parts are available from the local electronic shop but i needed a diagram for it. So if you have access for that, i would gladly appreciate it if you can pass it on me.

Thanks and God bless.

regards,

Re: EFIE. Schematics and parts list are easy to find on the internet. If you have trouble let me know and I will send you one. Though I can build an EFIE (Single or dual O2 sensor) it is now more cost effevtive to buy them off the shelf ( if you were to build one how do you test and or cailibrate it ?) I think that this sites product section has
a listing for EFIE units. Take care

I'm interested in installing on a 36 ft motorhome...BOY do I need the fuel savings! Is there a rule of thumb as to how many generators will be required?? Is it simply based on engine size or does the weight of vehicle factor in as well. It's a gas engine Ford 450. The GVWR is around 20000.

I would like to know where (off the self ) I can buy a o2 sensor enhancer.ebay is to expensive. $40.00 IS TO MUCH FOR 5.00 WORTH OF MATERIAL. At least I think so

The plates can be any conductor material the issue is the catalyst and the reaction it causes.Stainless is not an optimum conductor but is good in the corrosion area. This is still being experimented on and all are open, the kits and books out may help bypass some early mistakes but may miss something so trying is up to each. What ever is used for the plates and the catalyst the by-product when these are heated must be noted and dealt with since these will be used in closed spaces that are next to occupied spaces. No matter what we save on fuel if we injure or cause the death of someone it wasn't enough that is how the big companies did it.Slow down enough to try it on a bench do it small and test the possible things you think may happen in the final location an find a way to correct them not just say well it is OK.Some fumes from heated chemicals and metals are toxic orderless and accumulative.A slower producer with a little less efficient may be the best for now and search for better products as we experiment on the bench. My bench test will be a copper with vinegar and a mouse for toxic fumes (not torture) and see if the distilled water and vinegar stay clean we know it doesn't with KOH or baking soda maybe this will my other is ss as in the DV book but all with the safety issues common sense and patience to make the results not be posthumously posted
