my gen in the works

Postby jnamtab on Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:07 pm

Hi I am Jon.
I built my gen this morning cost so far $70. used 7 stainless outlet covers nylon washers stainless bolt and nuts.
I did not drill any of the plates. I isolated between +/- and neutral with the nylon washers and used 10 gauge wire insulation to isolate inside the holes of the plates. just strip very small pieces and thread they down the bolts. neutral plates are completely isolated(not sure if those help). my container is 3" pvc with cap on bottom and threaded cap on top. still need to build the flash back arrestor. that is going to be a 1/2"- 4" brass nipple and two brass 1/2" barbed fitting with female thread, packed with fine brass wool.

I don't know how much it produces or how many amps it draws but will post it up as soon as I know.

any suggestions or questions are appreciated.

ok tested it out and it makes about 1/2 a liter a min. I used jumper cables to test it and the terminals I used started to melt the pvc cap. I don't know if it was because of the jumper cables or if it is not put together properly. the plates go +n-n+n-. It bubbles with the cap off like some of the more productive ones I have seen on youtube but with the cap on it and filling a bottle under water it doesn't produce as much as I thought. I lit the end of the hose with some water in it as a flash back arrestor and it is very potent stuff only 3" of 1/2" tube and it sounded like a fire cracker but I don't think it makes enough volume to give me any gains. please help thanks.
