Stuck Lids

Postby bloodad on Mon Dec 29, 2008 4:05 pm

Has anyone had trouble getting the #%@&*# Lid off the Jar? I had trouble before, but now one is stuck real bad. I had to devise a funnel with a piece of hose to add water this weekend. What to do?

Stuck Lids I have issues with my hands going back to my service. We use recycled things if possible so when I need to open a qt. jar of stewed tomatoes I hold the blade of a kitchen knife and bang around the outer rim which frees up the threads of the sealed lid. Then I use a little rubber lid gadget and turn left to loosen. Another thought that came to mind was to put a light film of caliper grease outside the glass bottle threads or inside of the metal lid. I love these guys...Tree Hugger!!!

I have stoped using the lids. they stick and they leak. I use a plexiglass top with a rubber seal and battery bolts to hold it down. no leaks or sticking. I used an old inertube for the seal. works purfect. if ya need to know more just ask. I am uawwildbob HHO buff

What sort of lid are you using? If you are using the old metal lid you will get a problem. A plastic rim should help solve the problem.

I've been searching for a container to build my first HHO generator. Sense you use a plexiglass top, is the rest of the container plexiglass as well? Did you build it yourself? I'm toying with the idea of building a plexiglass box to fit the available area under my hood and would appreciate some insight from someone who's already been there.

daneff, here is an idea for you, go to the hardware store and get a water filter housing, they do the job well, then you only need the fittings and to drill for the plates, also you can usually get them in clear if you look around
