Need Advice

I would like to make a hho generator for a 500cc four stroke single cylinder diesel engine for my academic project. For this i have gone through the internet articles & this forum. It would be great full to have some advice on this matter:

Do 304ss will do good instead of 316L, as we dont have it here?
Which is the good design for electrodes? plate, rod, wire, net type?
For 500cc diesel how much plates should i need?
Is there any difference in placing neutral plates? and what is the material of neutral plates?

my testing engine is constant speed engine set in 1500 rpm
self governing, with normal type fuel injection system
