The best cell will have the most face value. What I mean is the most area for the H to bubble away from. I have seen stainless steal shitch cover plates piled up with spacers, there is a large amount of face there but a little difficult to build having some positive and others negetive. I have used stainless steal threaded rods with SS washers held in place on the rod by SS nuts. I think this works well, as you can score the washers, stack them up and stagger then from + to - poles so they fit well. How much it will draw from your battery or power sourse depends on the amount of electrolite (I still use baking soda) you add to the water. Mix some up with water in a small squirt bottle and add a drop at a time until you can test it for the maximum amperage you think you can afford on your system. I run my pickup at 6 to 7 amps and I believe I am at about 3/4 liter a minute.
