What to do about Electronic Fuel Injection

Postby EddieRock on Tue Nov 25, 2008 11:39 pm

If you're installing a HHO kit in a newer car (most cars) that has electronic fuel injection, you need to do one of two things. Either install a EFIE (electronic fuel injector enhancer) or Oxygen Sensor stand-off's.

The EFIE "tricks" your engine computer into leaning out the fuel mixture after you install the HHO kit. Without one, your computer will actually add fuel and the results will be less fuel economy.

There are some cars that this does not work on so you will have to simply install Oxygen Sensor stand-off's. These stand-off's actually move the Oxygen Sensor out of the exhaust flow which then leans out the fuel.

One or the other but not both.

Please contribute to this thread if you have valuable information.

Actually, I've read in a couple places that you need to have the Oxygen Sensor stand-offs if you use and EFI or MAP Sensor Enhancer because the Oxygen Sensor will notice the extra Oxygen and send more gas or go into an open loop and send more gas to be SAFE.

hello,

I just want an elaborate explanation or description of "O2 sensor stand off" can you please give me a layman's point of view on this, Is it better or as effective as compared to using EFIE?

Is "O2 stand off" also an electronic gadget? if it is, can I ask for a diagram and parts list of it? that might be more than easy to build than an EFIE.

Please enlighten me.

thanks in advance.

regards,

any one wanting 18mm. standoffs can find them in the help section of your auto supply . they are nonfoulers and you will have to drill the middle out to make the o2 fit. they cost around $3.00.

Razorback, try the UTUBE video on building an EFIE. You'll find it quite informative.
